The Haitian army was looking for a few good men, more than 4,000 registered, 500 were recruited and began basic training to be part of the first promotion of Haitian army soldiers of the Jovenel Moise era. Training of these 500 future young soldiers were supposed to start back in January 2019. That what Haiti Minister of Defense Enol Joseph said at the time.

Trained as a lawyer, Boniface Alexandre had a distinguished legal career, spending 25 years at a law firm in Port-au-Prince. His expertise and dedication to the field eventually led to his appointment to the Supreme Court in 1992, where he served as a key figure within the Haitian judicial system.

"At the request of Friends of Haiti Group of Nations, Kenya has accepted to positively consider leading a Multi-National Force to Haiti." This is what Dr Alfred N. Mutua, cabinet secretary (Minister) of foreign and diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, posted on his Twitter page on 29 July 2023.

So Kenya did not volunteer to "deploy a contingent of 1,000 police officers to help train and assist Haitian police restore normalcy in the country and protect strategic installations," like minister Alfred Mutua so eloquently puts it. Kenya was asked to take the lead.
